The star of the indoor palms

This dwarf palm is often grown as a houseplant in areas that are too chilly for year-round outdoor growth. Here in the Var area, in the South of France, it thrives outdoors on well-drained soil exposed to plenty of sunshine. You can admire it in the tree-lined alleys of our four-star campsite Les Jardins de La Pascalinette ®.

Bearing the Latin name Phoenix roebelenii, the dwarf date palm, also known as the pygmy date palm, miniature date palm or robellini palm, is an exotic and attractive plant that adds a tropical touch to every garden. Originating from South East Asia – especially Laos and Cambodia -, this miniature palm species is prized for its elegant appearance and easy upkeep.

Lush and striking foliage

The Phoenix roebelenii is characterized by its slender trunk and arched, feathery leaves, resembling those of large tropical palm trees, but smaller in size. The glossy, dark green leaves form an attractive, dense crown. Easy to maintain, the Dwarf date palm requires little care once it is established.

It withstands drought and heat well, but needs to be watered regularly to ensure the soil stays slightly moist. It is generally resistant to pests and diseases, making it an ideal choice for the gardening team here at our nature campsite!
