Het eiland Le Levant

Het eiland Le Levant in de Méditerranée voor de kust van de Var, vormt samen met Porquerolles en Port-Cros de Gouden Eilanden (îles d’Or).

Le Levant wordt al sinds de bronstijd (-1800/-1500 voor Christus) bewoond en is ongeveer net zo groot als Porquerolles, maar slechts een tiende deel van het eiland is toegankelijk voor het publiek. Daar is de naturistenkolonie Héliopolis gevestigd; de rest van het rotsachtige eiland is militair gebied van de Franse overheid.
